Sub-Committees: LARA is in the process of forming sub-committees
to help with the planning and organization of our youth baseball, softball,
soccer, football, volleyball and basketball programs.
Who is LARA? The Lakes Area Recreation Association (LARA) provides the opportunity for school-age Chisago Lakes-area children to experience affordable, supervised sports activities. LARA is a volunteer, nonprofit organization and is not formally affiliated with the Chisago Lakes School District, but cooperates with and encourages participation by the District. More than 1,000 lakes-area youth participate in LARA sports every year. Coaching Opportunities All LARA coaches are volunteers. LARA provides administrative support, including game scheduling. Coaches are always needed and appreciated. Sports knowledge is not a prerequisite; LARA will provide the necessary training. All we ask is that our volunteer coaches enjoy sharing time with young people and teach the principles of fair play and honorable competition. Sports Seasons Beginning in late spring, LARA baseball and softball programs get underway and are active through mid-summer. LARA soccer kicks off in mid-summer and ends in early September; flag football takes place in the fall and basketball runs during the winter months.
